I will begin this post with how we get Isaac when he wakes up from his nap...
It's always fun to be with a baby who is all smiles.
In the beginning of the week, during dinner, I was talking to Jake about something and ended up putting my head in my hands and saying, "It drives me crazy." Isaac thought it was hysterical, so naturally I had to do it over and over again and get it on video.
This week Isaac turned 11 months old! Only one more month and I'll have a 1 year old!! crazy... Here's some of the pictures I took of him to commemorate the occasion.
My mom visited this week and had a good time with little Ike. At one point things were a little stressful and this ended up happening...
It actually lightened my mood. He looked so perplexed, as if he was thinking, "I wanted some cheerios, but now how do I get them?"
He is still good with people, but his stranger danger is becoming more apparent. When we went my great uncle's memorial, my Dad came up to him and he was a little unsure. I felt bad for my Dad, but soon after my Dad was holding him during the service and Isaac was obviously comfortable and smiley.
He nurses about 3-4 times a day, but only acts really interested in the morning and evening. Otherwise, it seems more like a game to him. I am not going to try to wean him until he's a year, but even then I will still nurse in the morning and at night if he wants to. It will be interesting to see if he does...
And to finish off this post, here are some more pictures and a couple videos of Mr. Isaac. Still chatty as can be, crawling up on things, always trying to get out of his enclosures and staying cute.
This week Isaac turned 9 months old. He has now been in the outside world longer than he was in the womb! :) He remains our bundle of fun.
Isaac has become more weary of strangers and holds onto me more when we meet new people or when I'm trying to put him down for a nap.
He is also getting better at standing and is able to transfer himself from one chair to another while standing. He's not taking a lot of steps, more pivoting, but it's progress! When he's not trying to get into the bathroom, he is either trying to get to Jake's guitar or the animal's water dish. We desperately need a baby gate for this child! He is simply too mobile.
He still likes his bouncer, which has been a saving grace for when I need to go to the bathroom or get ready to go somewhere. He is never very pleased when I place him in it, but he quickly remembers how fun it is. :)
He enjoys making noises and laughs a lot at the different sounds he makes. Overall he is a patient little guy. There are many times when I am trying to get food together or am doing something with the pets and he sits patiently in his seat at the table. There are times when he vocalizes that he's ready for food, but there are more times when I am amazed and thankful at how good he is at waiting.
Yesterday marked Isaac's 31st week of being outside of the womb! :) During week 31 Isaac turned 7 months old!
He has his 8 teeth and is liking food more and more. He sits in his Summer Infant Support-Me 3-in-1 Positioner, Feeding seat and booster (a favorite item of mine). It's a super handy, easy to move chair for him to sit and eat in. His favorite food this week was my mom's lentil soup. He also likes chicken and continues to love Cheerios. I considered trying the "baby led weaning," but got nervous about him choking, especially since he has so many teeth! He's just able to bite off big chunks, so that makes it a little more scary to have him feed himself bigger pieces of food.
Isaac sits up really well now and is able to sit and play with toys easily and often goes into the tripod pose in attempts to move, but no actual forward movement; if anything, I find him pushing himself backwards.
We traveled again this week to Roseville and Ike did really well up until the last hour and a half. We desperately searched for a song or a toy to help calm him (sleep really was the answer as it was his bedtime). "The Crow Song" from Music Together and "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" from Mulan momentarily stopped the crying along with his indestructible book and elephant. However, stopping and taking him out, feeding him and getting back on the road ended up being the real remedy. Even with that hiccup, I still claim that Ike is a good traveler. :)
He still sleeps in the bassinet part of our pack-n-play, but now he can flip onto his stomach and is beginning to pull himself up once in a while, so that probably won't stay for much longer.
We also went to the beach for the first time this week. Sadly, little Ike got his ankles bit by (I think) a bunch of tiny sand fleas. It didn't hurt him, but it looked terrible! :( The waves didn't seem to phase him much. I want to take him again sometime, but I will be on high alert for those little pests!

Today is unique because Isaac's monthly birthday falls on his weekly birthday (the little things mothers notice). Today Isaac is 6 months old and 27 weeks old. He is quite the cute boy as you can tell from the picture. His top two teeth have come through and one more tooth has joined his bottom two on the right side. We gave him a chunk of apple to "gum," but with all those teeth he ended up biting off a piece. He ended up swallowing it, but not without some gagging, so extra caution is taken with this little boy! Today we tried giving Isaac some peach sauce (from last year's Palisade peaches!) and he enjoyed it quite a bit. He's still getting use to swallowing, but he is getting better. What's amazing to me is how he manages to get it EVERYWHERE! Afterwards, Jake and I gave him a bath and I found some of the sauce on the back of his head! crazy boy. Crazy and fun.
Ike is still ever so smiley and constantly reaching for things. He will grab and pull just about anything. He is getting better at sitting up and pushes up on his arms when lying down, but no signs of crawling soon.
He was a great sleeper on our trip this last week and even though he required a little extra entertaining for the last few hours of the drive, overall he was great.
